Colette Fu is an interdisciplinary artist who uses her vivid photographs in various forms of collage and collapsible artist’s books. Fu received her MFA in Fine Art Photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2003 and soon after began dissecting the pop-up books which have become her primary medium of art-making. A passionate photographer and exceptionally skilled paper engineer, Fu has designed pop-ups for award-winning stop motion animation commercials and has freelanced for clients Vogue China, Canon Asia, and Moët Hennessy • Louis Vuitton. Her work is included in many private and rare archive collections and in addition to receiving a Fulbright, she has won awards from the Independence Foundation, the Sovereign Foundation, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the Virginia Commission for the Arts, the Constance Saltonstall Foundation, En Foco, Photographer's Forum, Nikon, the Puffin Foundation and the Society for Photographic Education. A passionate educator, Fu teaches pop-up courses and community workshops with marginalized populations at various art centers, universities, and institutions internationally.
