Artist Statement
I like to think of myself as a researcher of suppressed inexplicable emotions, the subconscious, and spirituality. The resulting work ranges from drawings, paintings, installations to video and live performances. My drawings and paintings are often impulsive and deeply inspired form the surrealist practice of automatism; these works are based on several subjects, most of which are derived from my own and others’ poetry and with a recurring theme of the human figure, which is an exploration of gender and sexuality in relation to the body.
The performative part of my work stems from my belief that all art has a performative aspect to it, from its creation to destruction and even sometimes into the afterlife. I consider my performances rituals that carry a transcendental quality, they allow me to step outside of the shell of my body and this reality, enabling me to experience the sacred.
