Coronations follows the theme of the book Coronation, taking imagery and rubbings directly from New York City’s architecture. The rubbings are inked with Sumi ink and then printed. The monoprints and rubbings alternate between almost transparent Gifu Shoji paper and opaque Rives BFK paper adding both a tactile pattern and alternating levels of transparency.

Coronation

Oil burning

flame crowned
the Mother of Exile’s
City shines

Spiring
Skywards

Eiffel geysers
deep rigged
gearing

banshee grinding
undoing hearing

We are its fuel
We are its tool

Haloed mountain kings
unwanting coronation

from the low cities
glowing

we the moths
flowing

to capitals fire
flickering

out torches
smoking crows
