Doris & Andrea, I by Mohamad Abdouni. 8.5in x 11in, 1-color risograph printed by TXTbooks in Brooklyn on Mohawk Via Vellum 80lb paper. Limited edition of 50.

‘Doris & Andrea’ follows the every day lives of a Christian Lebanese-Armenian mother and her genderqueer son. The warmth this photograph gives off provides a different perspective on gender relations within traditional Lebanese families. The artist spent a little over 4 months with Doris and Andrea, who welcomed him into their intimate lives, which allowed for an honest documentation of their dynamic. The series was exhibited at the Institute of Islamic Cultures in Paris, and marked the first time the institute opens its doors to a queer story.

*Risograph is a rough and tumble form of printing, the ink is soy-based and will smudge like newsprint, large areas of color often reveal track marks or uneven ink distribution. Embrace the imperfection.
